EXECUTIVE & LEGAL PRESENCE
The Anima Method®
Anima is the animating force. The soul. It is what turns words into something that moves people, and what makes a speaker feel genuinely present rather than merely prepared.
THE ANIMA METHOD®
The name describes exactly what the method works on: not the speech, but the person giving it.
The Anima Method® grew from twenty years of working with actors to find organic, natural performance. The central challenge in professional communication is the same one actors face: how to be genuinely present and responsive when the circumstances are manufactured. Real stakes, artificial context. The work is learning to meet that honestly.
The method addresses four interconnected elements of how a person is received: breath, voice, physicality, and intention. Each is worked on directly and specifically, but always in relation to the others. How a person is present in their body determines how they are heard in the room.
Most communication training treats presence as a knowledge problem. Learn the techniques, apply them and get the result. It doesn't work, and most professionals who've sat through a day of it experience this. Knowing what good communication looks like and being able to do it under pressure are entirely different things. Acting coaches have understood this for a long time. Behaviour doesn't change because someone explained it. It changes through doing something differently and feeling it land.
Sessions are practical and physically specific. You will work on material in the room, sometimes your own, sometimes provided. You will be directed, given feedback, and asked to do it again. The changes that happen are not conceptual. Clients consistently describe a shift they feel, a sense that what they are saying is landing in a way it didn't before.
A good acting coach doesn't model good communication and ask you to copy it. They watch you closely enough to see exactly what is getting in the way and work on that. The difference between knowing what good looks like and being able to produce it in someone else takes years to develop.
